Increasing the performance of our air-cooled boxer engines by installing dual carburetors has always been a proven method to further enhance driving pleasure. No other component, while maintaining classic aesthetics, manages to highlight the kinship between Wolfsburg commercial vehicles and the Zuffenhausen sports car manufacturer Porsche more effectively.
To avoid risking engine damage during performance enhancement, the choice of jets and individual tuning to your own engine is of great importance. To address this issue, we have developed an offer after countless tests and trials with all dual carburetors available on the market, which allows you to quickly and easily convert your engine to dual carburetors, even without prior knowledge.
For our carburettor, we use the currently best available cast blank on the market. This is always individually inspected and assembled with carefully selected and tested components. The pre-assembled jets are already so suitable for your engine that you can put it into operation directly after installing our carburettors without any worries. We configure not only calibrated main, idle, and air correction jets, but also matching mixing tubes and individual transition bores for your engine. The fixed air correction jet for the idle system is also selected to be a perfect match.
For the venturis we use, we exclusively employ our own CNC-machined components in precisely matched sizes. The float levels of your new carburettors are adjusted during assembly and are therefore already set when the parts arrive at your door. For the fuel connection, you have the choice between the common 7.5 mm connections or the 5.5 mm connection that matches the original fuel pump.

Original Fritz Fahrkraft IDF 40 carburetors, pre-set for your engine and ready for immediate use.
This carburetor surpasses the quality of all currently available dual carburetors of the proven IDF design on the market. The best cast blank available on the market is finished and assembled by us in Germany. The carburetor has the following technical specifications:
- Finest die-cast, CNC machined
- Closed DIN626 607 2RS ball bearings for the throttle shafts
- CAD designed and CNC turned venturis, Fritz Fahrkraft proprietary development
- Special idle air correction jet, tuned for VW boxer engines
- Transition bores easily accessible, sealed with special NPTF screws
- Fuel connection optionally suitable for 7.5 mm or 5.5 mm fuel hose
- Idle jet extensions
- Choke cover with countersunk screws
According to your information, we will customize the following settings:
- Float level
- Venturi size
- Emulsion tubes

We offer you the choice of a fuel connection suitable for hoses with 7.5 mm or 5.5 mm inner diameter.
Up to 90 HP, an inner diameter of 5.5 mm is sufficient. The mechanical fuel pump in good condition can be used. The great advantage is that no alteration of the fuel line system from the tank to the carburetrors is needed and no adapters have to be used.
From 90 HP onwards, the system pressure may no longer be sufficient and a conversion to a fuel line with a 7.5 mm inner diameter may be necessary. In this case, the entire fuel line system from the tank to the carburettors should be converted accordingly. An electric fuel pump including a safety relay must also be fitted.

The right diameter.
This fuel inlet fitting for IDF carburetors is made from 100% brass and replaces the standard 8mm fuel inlet.
The fuel inlet is designed for engines up to 90hp. The mechanical fuel pump, if in good condition, can continue to be used. The major advantage is that there is no need to modify the line system from the tank to the carburetors, or to resort to any adapters. This reduces the risk of leaks, as every connection point can become a potential leak.
When ordering our carburetors, there is an option to choose between the standard connection and this Fritz Fahrkraft development.
The brass turned parts have an overall length of 37 mm. The shaft has a diameter of 6 mm.
